I’m seeing an increasing amount of clients approaching me with content they have created using AI Would you be disappointed to know I can spot it a mile off? Would you be surprised that I ask Chat GPT questions daily, well at least weekly? But would I trust it to do my job? Never! I’ve designed 2 logos in 2025, based on artwork supplied by AI, both needing refinement to turn them into professional logos. But it definitely speeded up the design process and gave the client control over their vision.

Today I asked Chat GPT for a balanced argument as to the pros and cons and AI in web design. Here’s what it said…

Artificial intelligence is becoming an increasingly useful tool in website design, offering clear advantages alongside some important limitations.

On the positive side, AI can speed up the design process, automate repetitive tasks, and help generate layouts, content suggestions and basic functionality quickly and cost-effectively. It can also support personalisation, accessibility improvements and data-driven decisions based on user behaviour.

However, AI-driven design can lack originality, emotional insight and strategic nuance, often producing sites that feel generic or disconnected from a brand’s personality. Over-reliance on AI may also limit flexibility and long-term scalability, and it still requires human expertise to ensure accuracy, usability, compliance and meaningful user experience.

In practice, AI works best as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for thoughtful, human-led website design.

I couldn’t agree more. Need some inspiration or help to refine your text, brilliant? Ask AI for help, but ALWAYS add your own personal touch!
